scream me a song asked:

what’s with all the christmas bashing. CHRISTmas is about CHRIST, not about presents. NOBODY MAKES U CELEBRATE CHRISTIAN HOLIDAYS!
Why is every other religion allowed to have their holidays .nobody says, hey let’s change hannakuh, cuz i’m not jewish. let’s call it ‘the holiday’ or ‘gift-ikuh’. how come Christians are the only religions that are discriminated against? everyone else is protected in America, even the Muslims??? why is it that in public schools, muslims are allowed to worship, but for Christians it is strictly forbidden?
Have people forgotten the fact that America was founded by Christians? on Christian morals and beliefs. That the whole reason the pilgrims came to America was so that they would be free to worship God?
really, because last time i checked it WAS about Christ, at least up until a few years ago when suddenly it is ‘politically incorrect’…. hence the name CHRIST-mas
i’m not saying it’s bad to give presents on Christmas, i quite enjoy the tradition myself, but that’s not ALL that Christmas is about. that’s what everyone wants to make it about, ONLY presents. the post that got me onto all of this was actually suggesting that we rename it merry giftmas.

so pleas don’t think i’m saying presents and joy on christmas is bad, i’m just saying there’s more to it than that

Create Your Own Custom Gift Baskets!

dancingzorba asked:

My boyfriend of two years and I do not normally exchange gifts. We do the usual dance-around and ask each other every year what we want for our birthdays, holidays, etc, but we’re both not gift people and would rather spend those occasions together, and not centered around gifts. This year, however, he has bugged me a lot more about what I wanted for my birthday back in November. I reminded him that I really didn’t need anything, and just wanted to spend a nice night out, which we did. Then came Hanukkah (I’m Jewish) and he again bugged me over and over as to what I wanted. To this day (a month after the holidays) he still says he wants to get me something. Yesterday, he asked again and I reminded him that I really did not need anything. He called me stubborn and dropped it haha. When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday (in a couple of weeks) he also said he didn’t need anything for himself (I was planning on buying a **** corset or something to wear on his birthday.) When I asked him again today, he said he didn’t needed a dumb trinket. But then followed up with maybe a shirt. His favorite store is Express.

I’m willing to get him the shirt since he mentioned it, and I do love him. But is it inappropriate to get it considering I didn’t get anything? Granted I protested that I didn’t want anything, but I would still feel out of place buying him a birthday gift. Do you think he would feel bad? And would I look a bit walked over if I bought him an expensive shirt from Express after getting nothing?

Fyi: I’m 22, he’s turning 27.

Personalized Baby Gifts

How can I show that I am excited? My parents are divorced, and my mother is a bit on the poor side. But she still got me a 150 dollar gift card to Best Buy. I tried to show I was excited, but I couldn’t. I was super-excited, and she thought that I wasn’t. I felt reallly bad. So I just want to know how to show I’m excited.
cadisneygirl asked:

Christmas is a holiday meant to celebrate the birth of Christ people.
Whether or not you celebrate Christmas for that reason doesnt change what the purpose of the holiday exists for or the definition of the holiday.

I can claim birthdays are meant to celebrate the easter bunny all I want to, but it would be incorrect.

Why is it so offensive for some people just to admit that even if you dont celebrate the original intent of the holiday of Christmas that it is indeed a christian holiday meant for the purpose of celebrating the birth of Christ?

It isnt bashing on your beliefs to say the holiday is a christian holiday. I have friends that celebrate hannakuh but arent jewish.

Christ·mas –noun 1. the annual festival of the Christian church commemorating the birth of Jesus: celebrated on December 25 and now generally observed as a legal holiday and an occasion for exchanging gifts.

there was only 1 definition for Christmas on dictionary.co
I honestly dont understand why people cant just acknowledge its christian basis. Pagans seem to get annoyed when Christians ignore the pagan influence, yet completely ignore the Christian basis for the holiday.
A festivus for the rest of us, woo hoo

YY
You dont have a clue what I know about my religion or christianity. The holiday CHRISTMAS was NEVER a pagan holiday.
This is like saying Kwanzaa was once really just christmas but people changed it so they could have their own holiday with no real imagination. They are seperate holidays incorporating similar themes or traditions.

Handmade Candy for Discriminating Tastes
