How much should a godmother spend on a baby shower gift?
Lindsey H asked:
I was asked to me a godmother for my best friends soon to be born daughter. I am throwing her a baby shower (with the help of her mom) and I was wondering what an average dollar amount was to be spent on the baby shower gift. I wasn’t sure what is too much and what is too less.
I can afford anything. I really have no limit or budget. Yes she has a registry.

i think that completely depends on what you can afford. I think that also because you are throwing her a baby shower that can count as a lot of the gift. Does she have a registry that you can pick something off so you know she really wants it. Just go with what ever you can comfortably afford. Its that thought that counts in my mind anyway

It depends on what you are capable of spending. My biggest suggestion is to get her something she needs, wants, and can really use. Something she registered for maybe. At my friends shower (I wasnt the godmother though) but I waited until the day of and got majority of what was left on her registry that I knew she would need. As well as a bunch of diapers in all sizes and I got the bouncy seat she wanted. I wish someone did that for me, lol. Noone bought off mine
Make your gift memorable
Unless your best friend is extraordinarily selfish, she will probably appreciate the fact that you are (presumably) spending money to throw her a baby shower, and would be accepting of any gift you can afford. My suggestion would be not to think so much about the price of the gift, but consider more the thoughtfulness and usefulness of the gift. What do you think she’ll really need? Check her registry and get what you think she’ll really be able to use, and also be something that lets her think about you every time she uses it. There are plenty of things that fall into those categories that are reasonably priced (layette, sheets, bath items, bottles, etc.). Besides, if you’re the godmother, you’ll probably get the baby another more religious keepsake type of present when he/she is baptized. But overall, I’d say get her whatever you want to get, and don’t worry about what you should spend. It sounds like you’re already doing enough.
And congrats, godmom!

If you are creative, you should make something. Home made gifts are the best! I made a diaper cake for the first time for my best friend’s shower (which I threw) and it was a jawdropper. It was also the centerpiece of the pary. I made a diaper wreath for my sister in law. (I was really broke) At first I was really embarrassed that I had to make my gift but it turned out fabulous, if I do say so myself lol…..and that was one of her favorite things she got. Everyone thought it was gorgeous…ok sorry I’m done gloating now. The
If not then I’d personally say like $20-$50? To top it off you threw the baby shower so you don’t really have to get anything extravagant. The great thing about the wreaths and Diaper cakes are that it’s pretty hard to ***** it up.. as long as you read the instructions

Maybe it isn’t what you buy her but how you present it…I custom make baby clothes blooming bouquets. They are actually pretty easy to make if you are crafty. You roll up different baby basics – onesies, sleepers, socks, bibs, onesies, blankets to look like a gorgeous flower bouquet. Many people buy them as a baby shower centerpiece or a gift to take to the hospital. If you want detailed instructions- I’d be happy to provide you with them. you can contact me in my etsy store. Good luck! And congratulations on being a Godmother… it is a wonderful honor!

I agree about the diaper cakes. Have one made that matches her theme/the shower or nursery decor…..it will do double duty as a centerpiece AND a gift.
