Hi!
I am Catholic and my boyfriend is Jewish. We've been together for about 5 months and it is very serious. We celebrated both Hanukkah and Christmas this year...he gave me gifts for both Hanukkah and Christmas and I gave him gifts for both Christmas and Hanukkah. I think its nice to exchange for both..its way of saying I know you are of a different faith than me but I respect that and love you still!

I think you must get him a gift this thanksgiving weekend especially that being your three month anniversary.Gift him something from your heart as a symbol of your love which he would fancy.Wait let me think something for you.How about a titanium bracelet with black links? I am sure he would love it.I was looking for them and found some good offers with this particular site. You can check them out too on this link

Personalized Invitations for All Occassions

if you're asking because you want to kno if you should, then i'd say no. the tradition of gift giving during the holiday season is often not carried out as it really should be - as a nice way to show your appreciation for your loved ones. if you want to do gifts this year for *that* reason then, of course, go for it! just make sure to talk to your boyfriend first so that he has the chance to find something right for you.

why can't you say something like, i kno we've never exchanged gifts in the past during the holidays but i'd really like to this year. what do you think?

seems simple enough.

Personalized gifts are forever

The appropriate Hannukah gift is money.

I cannot say more strongly how inappropriate it is for a Catholic to be dating a Jew. It mean that one or the other or both of you is not taking your religious faith very seriously. If you are dating, it means there is the possibility of marriage. If you marry, how will you raise the children? You see, if your faith mattered to both of you, neither of you would ever consider your children being raised in another faith.

It is especially important for him to only be dating Jewish girls, and I will explain why. Jewish identity is transmitted through the maternal line only. If he marries a gentile, his children will be gentile -- the line of Jacob will END with him. It's not just that marriage to a gentile will prevent him from keeping his obligation to have Jewish children. Consider that Christians are 33% of the world's population. Jews are less than 1/2 of 1/2 of 1%. IOW, for you to be dating a Jew is a direct threat to the People of Israel.

Make your gift memorable

Just get him something simple -- it doesn't have to be related to anything Jewish.

Sweater, books, etc. will all be acceptable.

Create Your Own Custom Gift Baskets!

You definitely do not have to get him 8 gifts. This is a silly myth that just because Hanukkah lasts for eight nights one must receive 8 gifts from each friend or family member. I'm Jewish and I only ever get one gift from the people who do give me gifts!

Remember that Hanukkah is actually not that important of a holiday; people think of it as a significant Jewish holiday simply because it sometimes coincides with Christmas. Gifts only very recently became a part of Hanukkah traditions, mostly because of assimilation into Christian society.

With this in mind, just get your boyfriend a gift like you would if it were a Christmas gift, because Hanukkah gifts are the same as Christmas gifts. Don't feel that it has to be a Jewish gift, either. Just as long as it doesn't have Christmas images on it, any general holiday gift would be appropriate. Just get him something that he would like, for example a new shirt or a cool electronic device.

Give a Gift from Your Favorite City

I would just talk to him about it or ask another Jewish Person to fill you in on the holiday and what kind of gifts are traditional and ordinary. I'll star this so some of my wonderful Jewish contacts can help you because I am clueless on this one.

Ask him what he prefers. If you can't ask a simple question like this how could you expect to develop a relationship with him. Some Jews would not like getting a Xmas gift. Others would be fine with it. Some might accept a give but prefer to to give you something for Chanukah. Others might be visa versa.
Just ask him what he feels and what his suggestions are.
By the way, I am Jewish although I have never really dated anyone let alone a non-Jewish girl.
