Should I give birthday gift at baby shower?

I am attending a surprise baby shower to be held at house of someone I am not close to. I just overheard, that there is actually a birthday party that day, and the mom-to-be is coming because of the birthday.

Since you know there’s a b-day though, you may want to bring a small potted plant for them or a card.

Wait is that what they told the mom to be so she would attend and not know its her surprise shower?
Anyway just take the gift for the event you where invited for. If you feel the need to take the other gift buy a gift card to your favorite store this way if no one else gives a gift you can keep the gift card and use it. If other people are giving gifts than you can just give it to her but no one will be the wiser.

No not required at all, and frankly, it might make the hostess feel uncomfortable as she is playing HOSTESS not Usurper, If you do anything you could bring her flowers but it is absolutely not necessary. I would probably say, I just heard it is your brithday, so Happy Birthday and what a lovely way to spend it, doing something nice for our friend.

that is an odd scenario, but I think it is general protocol to bring the host of a party a little something even if it isn’t their birthday.
